MÀMÁ, IT’S A GIRL by Stella Damasus
My rating: 5 of 5 stars
‘Mama It’s A Girl’ by Stella Damasus is an absolutely amazing and thought-provoking masterpiece about the challenges of being a girl child in Africa. It will inspire readers from Africa to dare to change the narrative in their individual communities.
I loved the resilience and grit of the female protagonist, Teno, as she, like Phoenix, emerged from the ashes of her trials again and again… new, energized, and determined to be more; determined that her daughter’s narrative must be different from hers.
I sat to read this book and I couldn’t drop it till I finished reading. It’s been a long while any book had that kind of effect on me. Highly recommended!
